Short Description of Instrument |
The Short Mood and Feelings Questionnaire (SMFQ) uses child and parent forms to assess and screen for symptoms of depressive disorders. The SMFQ is 13 items and asks about the child/ adolescent's feelings and actions over the past two weeks. The SMFQ is appropriate for children ages 6-17.
The SMFQ takes under 5 minutes to administer with forms for child and parent.
Sport-Related Concussion Specific:
Advantages: Has a research base with psychiatric disorders; adequate psychometrics.
Limitations: No research with TBI, mild TBI or sport concussion

Scoring |
Thirteen items are rated on a 3-point scale (0-2) for a total possible score of 26. Scores above 8 indicate possible depression.
